Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU
After his stellar combine performance, LSU’s Justin Jefferson has risen on several draft boards. So, he may not be available all the way down at the no. 31 selection for the 49ers, but it’s almost impossible to accurately predict how drafts play out.
Losing Emanuel Sanders in free agency has left a void in the Niners wide receiving corps. The team spent a second round pick on a wideout last season, Deebo Samuel, so they could shy away from using another high round pick on one this year. But, given how historically talented this year’s crop of rookie wideouts are, every team should look into acquiring one of them, regardless of their current wide receiver situation.
Jefferson brings versatility to the wideout position, something head coach Kyle Shanahan values greatly in his skill position players. He possesses tremendous ball skills, route running ability and very consistent hands.
If Jefferson falls to the end of the first, the 49ers would be foolish to not entertain him as an option at 31.
