New England Patriots
Being able to basically switch teams with Tom Brady wouldn’t be the worst outcome for Jameis Winston. In fact, it’s difficult to think of anything better for him, even if it’s rumored to be ‘unlikely’ at this point. That doesn’t take away the fact that it would be a great destination for him.
The Patriots are reportedly on track to to use Jarrett Stidham as their starting quarterback for the 2020 season. While he only has three appearances at the NFL level to his name, it’s difficult to question Patriots head coach Bill Belichick on personnel choices.
It’s understandable why the Patriots wouldn’t want to pursue Winston. They are a team that strongly values limiting turnovers and adding the most turnover prone quarterback in the NFL goes against that. What if Winston was an emergency option for a season though?
Being able to practice with the Patriots on a daily basis and watch from the sidelines could be a real benefit for Winston. He’d be able to focus on his development as a quarterback and maybe even compete a bit for some opportunity if it this hypothetical arrangement were to be a success.
