New Orleans Saints
The Drew Brees era will be over soon for the New Orleans Saints and they will need a long-term answer at this position. The thought is that Taysom Hill will overtake the starting job, but why not add some competition into the mix with Jameis Winston?
It’s difficult to necessarily trust Hill as a full-time starting quarterback given his unproven track record. His injury history adds another element to the situation that suggests the Saints do at least need to add an effective backup to be ready to play.
The more comfortable outcome for the Saints was that Teddy Bridgewater could overtake Brees’ role after the legend retires. That’s no longer the case as Bridgewater played his way out of town on a larger deal. Seeing if Winston can fill that void would be advantageous.
At least with Winston, he has big play potential and has experience as a full-time starting quarterback. Playing in a more principled offense that still likes to take chances would perhaps help the former No. 1 pick to tone down his turnovers while maximizing his potential.
