Seattle Seahawks
While the Seahawks continue their pursuit for Jadeveon Clowney, another option that has came into the fold is switching gears towards Everson Griffen.
Griffen’s camp has made it apparent that he has an interest in joining Pete Carroll’s defense in Seattle, according to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Half the battle is just acquiring interest and he’s on board of doing so if they can find a comparable contract that works for both sides.
Last season, Griffen was paid just north of $7 million, but after posting another productive season, expectations are he’ll be looking for something at least around the $10 million range.
Seattle currently sits with $14.9 million in cap space, per Over The Cap, so if they want to kick the tires on Griffen being the cheaper option over Clowney, they can certainly make that work and still get a boost off the edge.
Even with adding Benson Mayowa, he’s more suited to be a rotational rusher so the need to add an additional three-down defender remains a priority.
