3 questions for the LA Rams following the release of Todd Gurley

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Will Jared Goff elevate his game?

The Rams have long relied on Todd Gurley as the focal point of their offense while Jared Goff benefited from an easier situation. Los Angeles will need its quarterback to take his game to the next level with defenses no longer keying in on the running back position.

Goff displayed concerning limitations for a player with such a large-cap hit between inconsistency and coming up short in clutch situations. At 25, it’s difficult to believe there will ever be a leap from him if it doesn’t happen in 2020. It could be looked at as a true inflection point in his trajectory.

There are receiving options like Cooper Kupp, Tyler Higbee, Robert Woods, Josh Reynolds, and Brandin Cooks (if not traded) for Goff to work with and that should be sufficient. Failing to meet expectations next season would more than justify at least evaluating their options.
