Supporting Cast Will Test Him
There seems to be a lack of patience from many when it comes to the quarterback position. If a player doesn’t put up flashy numbers as a rookie, they are quickly overlooked and sometimes are called a draft bust. There is little consideration for the circumstances players like Dwayne Haskins face.
Being drafted by a bad team can be difficult for a young quarterback to overcome early on. The Redskins faced many deficiencies on their roster around the quarterback position that only made it harder for the first-year thrower to succeed.
There are still plenty of holes the Redskins face on offense. There is little to nothing certain about their tight options. Meanwhile, they lack talent on the left side of their offensive line and do not have sufficient receiving threats to pair with Terry McLaurin.
If Haskins can succeed despite those circumstances, the Redskins will surely know they have their long-term answer at quarterback. It would be simply too clear to deny and the focus could then shift to crafting the rest of the supporting cast around his skill-set.
