3. Another team signs Vic Beasley to a lucrative contract

Not even 24 hours after the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl 54, the Falcons announced that they won’t be re-signing Vic Beasley. Beasley is slated to hit free agency after spending five seasons with Atlanta.

The Falcons picked up Beasley’s fifth-year option in 2019 in hopes he could revert back to being the pass rusher he was in 2016. Back in 2016, he recorded a league-high 15.5 sacks and six forced fumbles.

As for 2019, while he had a modest eight sacks, it still wasn’t enough to warrant keeping him around. Even though the Falcons don’t want him, another team in the NFL will undoubtedly sign him.

While Atlanta lets him depart in free agency, it would be best for them if Beasley signs elsewhere to a lucrative contract. The more money that the former first-round pick is given by another team, the better compensatory pick that the Falcons could have in 2021.
