2. Re-sign Austin Hooper
Besides Beasley, Atlanta will also witness Austin Hooper become an unrestricted free agent. Unlike Beasley, the Falcons would likely be interested in bringing Hooper back in 2020.
During the 2016 NFL Draft, the Falcons selected Hooper with the 81st overall pick out of Stanford. But in the past two seasons, he’s developed nicely into a reliable pass-catching tight end.
As a matter of fact, Hooper has combined for 146 receptions, 1,447 yards, and 10 touchdowns since 2018. Having a security blanket like Hooper has helped Matt Ryan in the passing offense.
In the current market, Hooper would likely command anywhere between $8-10 million in free agency. Despite the Falcons having less than $10 million in cap space, it would be wise for them to find a way to retain him for next season.
