3 steps to a perfect offseason for the Los Angeles Chargers

Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

1. Draft Justin Herbert with the No. 6 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft

The first thing to remember for the Chargers is that they need to find Rivers’ replacement at quarterback. Regardless of if they want to sign someone in free agency, Los Angeles still needs to draft someone in this year’s draft.

Prior to April’s draft, it’s important to note that the Chargers possess the No. 6 pick in the first round. As a result, that should put them in a position to select a quarterback.

As of now, it appears that both Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa will be taken before the Chargers are on the clock. In that case, Los Angeles should be focused on drafting Justin Herbert out of Oregon.

Recently, Herbert impressed at the Senior Bowl as he threw for 83 yards and a touchdown. Coming into the NFL, Herbert could need some time to adjust to the speed of the game.

The Chargers are in unfamiliar territory at quarterback since Rivers has started for them since 2006. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and the Herbert era can begin in Los Angeles.
