3 teams who should trade for Colts safety Malik Hooker

Houston Texans

It’s difficult to rely on the NFL Draft to address immediate needs when it mostly should be about solidifying the future of an organization. The safety position was an immediate issue for the Houston Texans heading into the draft and remains exactly that.

There is a need for a more dynamic option at safety for the Texans after the decision to release Tashaun Gipson. He made 14 starts for Houston during the 2019 season and recorded 51 combined tackles and three interceptions, but was placed on injured reserve prior to the playoffs.

The current options on the roster are currently underwhelming with Justin Reid as a starter and underwhelming options in the mix to compete for the starting role alongside him. Looking to make an upgrade at this spot would help maximize their defense in 2020.

It may be more difficult for the Texans to pull off a trade for Hooker than other teams because they’re in the AFC South with the Indianapolis Colts. Despite that fact, Houston should try to make a real attempt to land him since they need a player with his skill-set.
