Dallas Cowboys
The rumors involving the Dallas Cowboys trying to trade for New York Jets safety Jamal Adams are no secret. After failing to get it done before the end of the trade deadline last season, it seems that ship has sailed. Now, it’s best to look at alternative options to bolster the secondary.
Instead of continuing to pursue Adams, the Cowboys should take a look at Malik Hooker. Dallas could use a safety that can help provide a presence in the middle of the field as a ballhawk, which is the top attribute Hooker brings to the table.
There recently has been mention of the Cowboys potentially considering moving Chidobe Awuzie to the safety position. Trading for Hooker would enable Dallas to keep Awuzie more at the cornerback position if they want, or maximize their versatility in various packages.
For a Cowboys team that has a lot of expensive talents to retain, taking on buy-low risks like Hooker is worth considering. He had high potential entering coming out of Ohio State but an ACL tear as a rookie in 2017 slowed his momentum.
