Atlanta Falcons
It’s not easy to move up from outside the top ten and get into position to select an elite prospect like Isaiah Simmons. The Atlanta Falcons should look to do whatever it takes to get it done, similar to how how they moved up to select Julio Jones in 2011.
The Falcons need to add dynamic talents to their defense to build around and arguably there isn’t anyone better in this class than Simmons. His jack of all trades skill-set would help to mitigate deficiencies in key areas and be the start of real progress as a unit.
The Carolina Panthers seem to be a likely landing spot for Simmons considering they lost Luke Keuchly to retirement. Adding in that they’re an NFC South rival makes it all the more complicated. However, the projected range for Simmons still appears to vary significantly between experts.
If a situation were to present itself where Simmons is available a bit later than originally anticipated, the Falcons need to capitalize on it and make an aggressive pursuit to trade up. If that fails, they will likely be in position to select K’Lavon Chaisson and that would be a solid alternative.
