4 candidates to replace Bill O’Brien as Houston Texans head coach

3. Josh McDaniels

McDaniels has of course been back in New England as offensive coordinator for a long time, and any residue of his leaving the Indianapolis Colts at the alter a couple years ago is probably gone.

Texans executive V.P. of football operations Jack Easterby was once the Patriots team chaplain. And as Will Brinson of CBS Sports cited, there was talk McDaniels was going to bring Easterby to Indianapolis with him if he had taken that job.

McDaniels will certainly be selective in considering head coaching opportunities. But Houston looks like a nice fit, if the Texans go back to the ex-Patriots’ assistant well as they did with O’Brien.
