Cool the Tom Brady Hype, For Now
The thought of an all-time great quarterback switching teams will always garner substantial interest from around the NFL, and rightfully so. The latest example of this is Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.
When Brady’s night was over against the Saints, he completed 23-of-36 (63.9%) pass attempts for 239 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. He needed to bring more to the table in order for the Buccaneers to pull off a win.
Regardless of adjusting to a new team, throwing a pick-six is concerning to see. Especially when factoring in quarterbacks in their first year under Bruce Arians have struggled badly with turnovers and this marks the third consecutive game Brady has thrown a pick-six.
It’s safe to say, Brady is no longer the MVP caliber quarterback he once was and that’s not based on a Week 1 performance with a new team. His presence alone will not elevate the Buccaneers to Super Bowl contenders if he doesn’t turn things around quickly.
