4. The Vikings’ Defense Has Looked Underwhelming
The strength of this Vikings team entering this season was supposed to be their defense. When factoring in the addition of Yannick Ngakoue prior to Minnesota’s season opener, the potential for the overall unit was supposed to be raised.
So far, the Vikings’ defense has put together a pair of underwhelming performances. The Packers put up 43 points in Week 1 against Minnesota and a work-in-progress Colts offense finished with 26 points — displaying a real need to improve.
When looking beyond the scoreboard, the Vikings failed to get to Philip Rivers often as they finished with just two sacks. Minnesota also allowed three 1st downs from penalties, forced one turnover, and 151 total rushing yards.
With the Vikings’ offense coming off its worst offensive display in quite some time, the defense is going to have to step up even more than usual. That’s especially when considering they have matchups with the Titans, Texans, Seahawks, Falcons, and Packers over the next five weeks.
