Cam Akers
It’s no secret the importance of the running game for the success of the Rams’ offense. When Todd Gurley was at the height of his All-Pro dominance, it was incredibly difficult to slow down Los Angeles and Jared Goff even looked like an elite quarterback at times.
Now, Gurley is a member of the Atlanta Falcons and has to prove that he can play near that level once again. For the Rams, they will be using a backfield-by-committee approach, but expect Cam Akers to be involved often in their efforts.
Akers, the Rams’ second round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, showed off impressive potential during his final season at Florida State. If there’s a talent in Los Angeles’ backfield that can emerge as a star, it appears to be him.
The first chance Akers will get to showcase his abilities will be against the Cowboys. There’s going to be legitimately no film for Dallas to be able to study how he’s potentially going to fit in Los Angeles’ offense. That could lead to some intriguing possibilities for the Rams.
