Battle of Star RBs

When stacking up the Vikings and Packers from a head-to-head standpoint, something that truly sticks out is the running back position. Both Dalvin Cook and Aaron Jones set the tone for their respective offenses and have fared quite well in these matchups.

There was originally some concern that Cook could hold out as he awaits a new contract, but he will be ‘out there’ against the Packers. The battle of star running backs will be on in Week 1, in a matchup where both players have put together some truly spectacular displays in the past.

If either team can manage to successfully make an impact with their run defense, it would provide a needed edge. It just remains to be seen whether that will occur given the history of the running backs.

With the track record both Cook and Jones have established, don’t expect either defense to slow them down. Both running backs should be set to have a major outing to begin the 2020 season–giving their respective teams a chance to win in Week 1.
