Terrell Edmunds
The Giants’ offense and Steelers’ defense match up very well. Both are genuinely dynamic. While obviously the superstars will make an impact, football is the ultimate team game. One player who will have a major impact this week is Steelers strong safety Terell Edmunds.
Edmunds will have the difficult task of covering tight end Evan Engram, and at times running back Saquon Barkley. Edmunds has a great blend of size and athleticism, however, Engram and Barkley are incredible athletes in their own right.
While safeties are often known for their coverage ability, they must be able to stop the run as well. Edmunds is going to have to be able to come down and stop Saquon Barkley before he gets a full head of steam.
Often that means coming down on a blitz and making plays in the backfield. However, Barkley is dynamic enough to bounce plays to the outside. Edmunds is going to have to contain Barkley or else the Giants may come away with a victory.
With so much talent on one side of the ball, Edmunds is often overlooked. He does not put up flashy numbers like Minkah Fitzpatrick. Edmunds does not have the huge hits that Devin Bush is known for. He doesn’t get to the QB like TJ Watt. However, Edmunds is a valuable piece to this Steelers defense and will make a major impact on Monday Night Football.
