4 perfect backfield options for the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason

Jordan Howard

Prior to the 2020 season, the Chiefs will have to make a decision on whether or not to bring back Williams. Considering that he would only be a $2.8 million cap hit, it’s like that Kansas City picks up his team option.

Even though Williams is probably going to return, the Chiefs need to add a more traditional running back. Again, Kansas City is restricted financially and is going to attempt to re-sign Chris Jones.

Therefore, if the Chiefs choose to go the free agency route, they’ll need to sign someone that is cost-effective. In light of that, Jordan Howard could be a running back that is a bargain in free agency.

Last offseason, Howard was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. But after an injury-riddled season in 2019, Howard could sign a one-year prove-it deal with a team.

Currently, the Chiefs lack a short-yardage option at running back and Howard would definitely fill that void.
