Ja’Whaun Bentley
Again, over the course of the offseason, the Patriots have lost a few of their marquee linebackers in free agency. But in typical Belichick fashion, he has players that have been groomed for starting roles on the defense.
While Dont’a Hightower is still in New England, Ja’Whaun Bentley should see an increased role in the middle of the defense. Bentley, who was a fifth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, has drawn rave reviews from Belichick in his first two seasons in the NFL.
Altogether, in his first two seasons, Bentley has combined for 58 tackles, two deflections, and an interception. The Patriots will need his production to increase exponentially to help ease the changes that occurred on New England’s defense this offseason.
