Drew Brees does not look the same

After contemplating retirement in the offseason, Brees came back to the Saints. Many believe the Saints have the best overall roster in the NFC. You could certainly argue that there is another team in the NFC that is better, but there is no denying that the Saints are a Super Bowl contender.

In the first two games of the season, Brees has not looked like himself. Some can say it’s rust due to no preseason games, while others can make an argument that he is losing a step as he is aging. Brees is 41 years old and is in what many believe to be his last season in the NFL.

In Week 1 against Tampa Bay, Brees completed 18 of 30 for 160 yards and two touchdowns. In Week 2 against the Raiders, Brees completed 26 of 38 for 312 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Although he threw for over 300 yards, a chunk of those yards came at the end of regulation when the Saints were down 14 with the Raiders playing soft coverage. It could just be that he is missing Michael Thomas, but Brees did not look his best going up against a weak Vegas secondary. This week, he will have his hands full with a loaded Green Bay defense.
