4 reasons the Packers will defeat the Saints in Week 3

Our Sunday Night Football game for Week 3 features two future hall of famers: Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. Brees and Rodgers have faced each other four times in their stellar careers, both men beating each other twice. The first matchup came in 2008, where the New Orleans Saints beat the Green Bay Packers, 51-29. The second one coming in 2011, with the Packers beating the Saints, 42-34.

They faced each other again in the following year, with the Packers winning, 28-27. Their final meeting came in 2014, with the Saints picking up a 44-23 victory over the Packers.

Each game was high scoring with both quarterbacks being heavily involved in the pass game. According to the trend, with Brees winning the first matchup, then Rodgers winning the next two and Brees winning again, it seems as if the Packers will be winning on Sunday night.

Prior to the start of this season, when we saw Week 3 Sunday Night Football action between the Saints and Packers, we thought Brees-Kamara-Thomas versus Rodgers-Jones-Adams and we thought, “sign me up for that.” But, now it appears that both Thomas and Adams will be sidelined for this game. Regardless, it should be exciting.

According to Draft Kings, the Saints are favored by 3.5. The Saints are the better team on paper, but coming into this matchup, if the Saints were not home, I do not think they would be favored. My pick for this game is Packers (+3.5) as I see them outright winning this game.

Here are four reasons why the Packers will defeat the Saints this week.
