No. 2: LB Reuben Foster
Seven total tackles (five solo), one tackle for a loss and one quarterback hit
Second-year linebacker Reuben Foster showed once again why he’s so important to the 49ers defense.
His sideline-to-sideline speed and versatility at the inside linebacker position is something that can’t be replicated. Whether it was covering tight ends and running backs, filling in gaps to get the rusher or even pressuring the quarterback, Foster was doing everything to make an impact.
The Alabama product’s athleticism sets him apart from all other linebackers in the league. His play in this game shows why he was sorely missed in the first two weeks he suspended. And with his continued development and growing leadership role, he will be a force in the team’s future.
He built off of his seven total-tackle performance from last week against the Kansas City Chiefs with this bigger game against quarterback Philip Rivers and the Chargers.
With his continued development and growing leadership role, he will be a force in the team’s future. Expect big things for the rest of the season from the second-year linebacker.
