2. Hold DeAndre Hopkins to 6 or Fewer Catches
The Cardinals made a huge move in the offseason when they acquired DeAndre Hopkins in a trade that sent David Johnson to Houston. The two sides are currently working on a contract extension that will keep Hopkins in Arizona for awhile. The Cardinals have a new No. 1 weapon and opponent will know.
Hopkins finished with 104 catches during the 2019 regular season and added 15 more in two postseason games. Hopkins was held to less than six catches just four times and never had less than five in any games last season.
Arizona has other weapons on the outside such as Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk, but Hopkins is clearly the focus for opposing defenses.
The 49ers have allowed receivers to get comfortable against them in recent games. Heading into their Week 1 matchup, taking Hopkins out of the equation has to be a focus. This is a must if they want to dominate defensively.
