1. Receives MVP Votes
This is a huge bold prediction. League MVP votes are not something that are easy to get. In 2019, Lamar Jackson was just the second player in history to be named MVP unanimously. In 2018, Patrick Mahomes received 41 votes with Drew Brees receiving the other nine. The year before that Tom Brady, Todd Gurley, and Carson Wentz were the three players to receive votes.
In 2020, Jimmy Garoppolo could receive his first MVP votes. What if his season looked like this — 4,100 yards, 35 touchdowns, and seven interceptions? Would that be enough to earn some MVP votes? If the 49ers were near the top of the league once again, it could be enough.
Let’s not forget that Russell Wilson has never received an MVP vote in his career. That is how difficult they are to receive. There are only 50 to go around and there are usually one or two players that emerge as the favorites as the season goes on. In 2020, there is a chance that Garoppolo emerges as one of those players.
