The San Francisco 49ers Will Post 4 Sacks

Minus Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas — who bother suffered torn ACL’s — the 49ers front 4 has been struggling in applying pressure on the opposing quarterback. This week, they will have a difficult task in stopping Cam Newton, who is very effective with his legs.

The 49ers currently rank in the bottom half of the league, with only 10 sacks through the first six weeks. Their current sack leader is Kerry Hyder Jr., who leads the team with 3.5 sacks. This San Francisco defensive front will be going up against a New England offensive line that has only allowed Cam Newton to be sacked 9 times.

49ers defensive coordinator, Robert Saleh will have to dial up the heat in this one to prevent the Patriots from establishing their run. The Patriots like to play smart, conservative football. They want to control the clock and work their way down the field. Cam Newton is a big body who can make plays with his legs as well as his arm. The key to slowing him down is getting physical with him inside and outside of the pocket.

The 49ers will hope to get sacks through blitzes and good coverage. Unfortunately for the 49ers, it seems that they will once again be without all-pro CB Richard Sherman.

They will be missing quite a few instrumental pieces of this defense. But, I do not see that holding them back as they have played excellent all year long. They are a top 5 defense and will be successful in getting pressure on Cam Newton. I got the 49ers recording 4 sacks in this one.
