The Colts Will Have Over 200 Total Rushing Yards
If there was one area of weakness for the Jaguars last season it was their inability to stop the run. On the other hand, the Colts’ offensive line is their offense’s biggest strength. Indianapolis will have two very good running backs in their backfield in Jonathan Taylor and Marlon Mack. One of these two will more than likely surpass 100 yards. and it wouldn’t even be shocked if both backs reach that feat.
The Colts’ offensive line has been dominant. The Jaguars defense couldn’t stop a nosebleed last year and they traded their best run stopper in Calais Campbell. While moving Myles Jack back to weakside linebacker and signing Joe Schobert to the middle linebacker will help in the long run, this will be a tough Week 1 task.
The Colts’ offensive line is dominant and the Jaguars’ defensive line is unproven. It is very likely Jacksonville has trouble stopping their backs and that should help Mack and Taylor to each thrive on the carries they each receive throughout this matchup.
The issue will not just be the Jaguars’ poor interior line play, but the fact that Indianapolis will run the football a ton. They are a team built to run the football. Both of their backs may see between 15 and 20 touches. It would be smart of the Colts to let Rivers get acclimated a bit more with the offense. Don’t expect them to put too much pressure on him unless the game is close.
