Gardner Minshew II Will Come Out Slinging

Gardner Minshew II will be playing this season like his job depends on it. That is because his future as the starting quarterback in Jacksonville will be based on how he does this year. Minshew has to prove he is more than a nice stache and a cool story.

This year is going to be the year Minshew has to prove that he belongs as a starter in the NFL. Even if he plays like an average QB that might not be good enough. Minshew will need to blow people away. Expect him to look and make a statement early this season.

While the defense has been virtually gutted, the Jaguars’ offense has gotten a bit better. DJ Chark had a breakout year last season and could be in for an even better year this year with Minshew under center all year. Laviska Shenault Jr is a promising prospect. When healthy Tyler Eifert is a red zone monster. Jay Gruden is a very smart offensive coordinator and he will put Minshew in a position of success. This offense has a chance to surprise a lot of people.

Coming into this season, the Jaguars are an underdog. Many are predicting they will have the worst record in football. However, this is nothing new for Gardner Minshew who took the league by storm last season. He was the most exciting quarterback taken in the sixth-round since Tom Brady.

While he may not be the next Tom Brady, Minshew has the same fire in him that Brady has. He surely will not be going down without a fight this year. A solid 300 yard passing display with 3 touchdowns and 0 turnovers may put the league, and the Jaguars front office, on notice.
