The Colts Will Win on Their Last Possession

This is likely the boldest take, simply because it is very specific. This game will surely go down to the wire even if it’s a high scoring game where both offenses are clicking. With the game on the line Philip Rivers will lead a game winning drive and score a touchdown in the games final minute. While this is likely not the outcome either team would want, it would be an excellent start to the NFL season.

For the Colts, Rivers shows why signing him was worth it. The veteran gunslinger will lead the charge down the field and score a touchdown to take the lead. Jacksonville will have a few seconds but not enough to get a real drive going. The investment in Rivers will prove to be worth it in Week 1 as he delivers on a victory and the Colts win in nail biting fashion.

For Jacksonville, obviously this ending would be bittersweet. However, it shows the potential of the team. Many are expecting this game to be a blowout. However, something about this team screams sleeper to me. They are very young and really have a much brighter future than given credit for.

The playoffs are unlikely but we were saying the same thing about the 49ers a year ago. Now they are Super Bowl contenders. A tough loss may serve as momentum for Jacksonville to surge and play sleeper for the majority of the season.
