Justin Jefferson Leads Vikings in Receiving in Debut
There will be no shortage of targets to go around for the Minnesota Vikings’ wide receivers following the departure of Stefon Diggs. They will need to have one player to step up in the secondary receiver role with a now healthy Adam Thielen holding down the No. 1 spot.
Heading into Week 1, the Vikings are expected to involve Bisi Johnson as the No. 2 receiver in the offense with Justin Jefferson in the No. 3 spot. With that, Jefferson likely won’t receive a substantial volume of targets, but he has real big-play potential, so being force-fed passes isn’t needed for results.
With the bulk of the Green Bay Packers’ focus on slowing down Thielen and Johnson, Jefferson will be able to take advantage. All it takes is a favorable matchup in a couple of plays for a standout performance to occur, and that’s all Jefferson is going to need to get it done.
During his time at LSU, Jefferson displayed genuinely dynamic potential. It shouldn’t take him long to make a big impact on the NFL level and in fact, he will end up leading the Vikings in receiving in Week 1. It will be the start of an impressive career.
