A Heavy Dose of Jalen Hurts

While Eagles’ quarterback Carson Wentz has been struggling throughout the year to look like the franchise quarterback that many thought he would be, the Philly offense has also been giving little bits and pieces of responsibility to second-round rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts. In Week 6, they might be looking to let him off the leash a little bit.

Wentz has been struggling in 2020, as previously mentioned, but not to the point where they should be looking at a permanent quarterback switch. That said, with how the Eagles have tossed Hurts into the mix here and there throughout the team’s first five games, it’s clear they want their rookie quarterback to get involved in some capacity. This week more than any should be the one where they really give Hurts a chance to run the show.

Banking on beating a team like the Ravens by slowing down their offense is just inviting disaster into your own home. Baltimore can explode at a moment’s notice, and Lamar Jackson can exploit just about anything you throw at him. If the Eagles want to win, it will have to be in a shootout. However, between injuries at the skill positions and an underperforming Wentz, those points that the Eagles desperately need might have to come from creative measures, AKA, designed plays for Jalen Hurts.

Let him throw, let him run, hell, let him catch a pass or two Taysom Hill style. Just get Hurts involved in the offense somehow. He was a second-round pick for a reason, and he can provide the spark that the Eagles need to pull off the upset.
