5 major X-Factors for the Jaguars in Week 3 vs. Dolphins

Laviska Shenault Jr., Jaguars

5. Laviska Shenault Jr.

Laviska Shenault Jr. has been very impressive so far this season. The Jaguars coaching staff is really maximizing his talents. To me, he feels like a better version of Cordarrelle Patterson. However, the Jaguars are utilizing his talents in a much better way than Patterson ever was. Laviska is a very strong wide receiver who isn’t afraid to get physical.

Last week, on a running play, Shenault Jr. lowered his shoulder on Titans safety Kenny Vaccaro. Shenault Jr. was able to get a truck stick worthy highlight while gaining an extra few yards.

This week, Laviska will play a very important role once again for Jacksonville. The dynamic rookie receiver will play a key role in the team’s success as the year goes on as well. Don’t think of Shenault Jr. as a gadget only type player either.

This week against a banged-up Dolphins secondary Shenault Jr. may have a bit of a breakout game. The status for the Jaguars’ top receiver, DJ Chark, is still up in the air. If he does play, there is a good chance his role will be limited. Shenault Jr. will have to step up and make some big plays.

The Jaguars’ wide receiving core in general is one of the most underrated groups in the entire NFL. They don’t have a Julio Jones type guy, although Shenault has the build for it. However, they do have five wideouts who can all contribute and give quality minutes. This week may be the Laviska show, next week may be a Chark attack. It is very hard to prepare for this Jaguars offense.
