Atlanta Falcons
There have now been multiple reports stating the Atlanta Falcons’ interest in trading up from the No. 16 selection in the upcoming NFL Draft. There hasn’t been a clear indication regarding which particular prospect or position they’re targeting for this move.
It’s no secret the Falcons had a terrible defense last season with plenty of room to improve. They managed to make some helpful additions in free agency but they still have a glaring hole at the cornerback spot after moving on from Desmond Trufant earlier in the offseason.
Given the dynamic receiving talent in the NFC South, having an effective set of corners is an absolute must in order to be successful. The Falcons are likely too far out of range to justify moving into a position to select Jeffrey Okudah. However, they could target a move that would put them in a position to select CJ Henderson.
It’s unclear how much draft compensation the Falcons would be willing to give up. Considering how the Jacksonville Jaguars hold the No. 9 pick and could potentially take Henderson, they may need to be willing to make an aggressive play to pull this off.
