Chad Williams, Wide Receiver
The 98th player taken in his draft class, Chad Williams showed some prowess as a prospect. Unfortunately, he failed to do much of anything as a rookie. His stats were next to negligible with seven targets for three receptions and 31 yards last year. To say the least, his rookie year was dreadful, but things are looking up for the Cardinals wideout.
At 6-foot-1, Williams is a bigger target who can make plays in the red zone. This works for him, as well as many factors that seemingly worked against him last season. In what is likely Larry Fitzgerald’s final season, Arizona will have to see what it has at the wide receiver position. Moreover, better QB play should be coming with Sam Bradford and Josh Rosen under center. Now, he’ll have more opportunities than ever before and with Christian Kirk added to the roster, less attention will be spent on him. These factors could be part of the storm that is Chad William’s sophomore season.
I, for one, am excited to see what the Grambling State product shows off this year. Everything looks to be aiding him this year, so a break out year is a possibility. An improvement from Williams would help an offense with an elite back in David Johnson and new quarterback play. Especially considering future Hall of Famer, Larry Fitzgerald, is aging and the rest of that offense isn’t great. If anything, his role should increase as the year goes on. If the Arizona Cardinals are going to compete anytime soon, Williams will be a significant piece of the puzzle.
