The Denver Broncos will kick off their 2018 season in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks. Just a few years ago, both of these teams met each other to end the season, facing off in the Super Bowl. The Seahawks came out on top, winning 43-8. That was when Seattle was on top in the NFC, eviscerating any team that got in their way. The Broncos would make up for their loss by winning the Super Bowl two years later, against the Carolina Panthers.
Now, both of these teams are in different spots.
The Broncos are still trying to find their guy at quarterback since Peyton Manning departed in 2016. They are hoping they have their guy in newly acquired Case Keenum. Keenum comes from the Minnesota Vikings, where he led them to the NFC Championship last season. The Broncos are hoping for those type of results from him this year.
The Seahawks, on the other hand, are in a bit of a rebuilding stage. Their “Legion of Boom” is no longer composed of Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas anymore. Now, Thomas is the only one of them still employed by Seattle.
Sherman now plays for the division rival San Francisco 49ers, while Chancellor is retired due to a neck injury that made it even riskier to play football. The Seahawks also lost Michael Bennett in free agency, while Cliff Avril also retired.
Both of these teams could use a Week 1 win to start moving in the right direction. The Denver defense is still loaded with talent, while the Seahawks will rely on quarterback Russell Wilson to keep them in games. It will be an interesting matchup to begin both of these teams’ seasons. I believe Denver can take advantage of the Seahawks’ lack of talent, winning the game.
Here are a few bold predictions I think can happen en route to a W for the team in Colorado.
