No. 3: Broncos Defense Racks Up Five Sacks
The Broncos pass rush should be vastly improved this season. Denver decided to select EDGE Bradley Chubb with their fifth overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Chubb was a sack machine at North Carolina State, where he had 25 sacks in three years of starting. There’s a ton of potential for Chubb to become an elite pass-rusher.
You put a talented pass-rusher alongside All-Pro Von Miller, you’re likely to get fruitful results. Miller has had 10-plus sacks in six out of the seven years he’s played in the NFL. He’s a consistent menace for opposing teams, and Chubb can create even more havoc with him.
As a team last year, the Broncos accumulated 33 sacks (22nd in the NFL). I look for them to take a huge leap in the right direction this season. The Seahawks offensive line is known to be a bottom-of-the-league unit. This doesn’t bode well for Wilson, who may be running for his life in this game.
If everything goes according to plan, the Broncos should be able to have their way rushing the passer. I see the Broncos defense having a field day, racking up five or more sacks in their Week 1 bout with Seattle. They failed to do this once last year.
This season may be the return of an elite Broncos defense, which is what helped them win a Super Bowl just a few years ago.
