Browns: 3 bold predictions for Baker Mayfield in Week 1 vs. Ravens

Last season, Baker Mayfield’s two performances against the Baltimore Ravens in 2019 contrasted substantially. The first outing occurred on Sept. 29 and the Cleveland Browns pulled off a convincing 40-25 victory with Mayfield going 20-of-30 (66.7%) on throws for 342 yards, one touchdown, and one pick.

The success Mayfield experienced against the Ravens the first go around certainly did not carry over into their next meeting. Mayfield’s accuracy dipped a bit–going 20-of-33 (60.6%) on pass attempts, resulting in two touchdowns, and one interception.

It won’t be easy to succeed against the Ravens’ defense considering they added even more talent in the offseason. However, Mayfield is the type of quarterback talent that has a dynamic enough element to put up impressive numbers against top defenses.

Here are three bold predictions for Browns QB Baker Mayfield in Week 1 vs. Ravens:

3. Mayfield Will Throw at Least 3 Touchdowns

Patrick Mahoems was the only quarterback to throw at least three touchdowns against the Ravens in the 2019 regular season. Mayfield is going to meet this mark during his Week 1 matchup with Baltimore’s defense to kick off his bounce-back season.

2. Mayfield Throws Over 275 Yards

It was no easy to task to move the ball up the field against the Ravens’ defense last season. The most successful quarterbacks to do so were Mahomes (374 yards), Kyler Murray (349 yards), and Mayfield (342 yards). The Browns QB should reach the 275-mark in this outing.

1. Ravens Win By Narrow Margin

The success the Ravens experienced in the 2019 regular season should carry over into Week 1 of the 2020 season. A big performance from Mayfield will keep the Browns close but won’t be enough to pull off a victory. Baltimore’s offense will be too much for Cleveland’s defense to handle.
