Darron Lee was once a promising prospect coming out of Ohio State. But the former Buckeye has been unable to be consistent on the field. As a first-round pick of the New York Jets in the 2016 NFL Draft (pick No. 20 to be exact), Lee flashed some glimpses of his athleticism at linebacker.

In his first three seasons with the Jets, Lee tallied 241 combined tackles, four sacks, and two forced fumbles. He also showed potential in pass coverage, contributing 11 pass breakups and three interceptions in his three years in New York. Last season, after failing to put it all together with the Jets, Lee spent a year with the Kansas City Chiefs.

However, he would rarely see the field in his lone season with the Chiefs, recording a career-low 31 tackles. While he’s fallen short of proving why he was a first-round selection in 2016, Lee is still 25 years old.

Maybe allowing Lee to fill in for Wilson momentarily can provide a spark in Lee’s career, thus giving the Browns a viable replacement at linebacker.
