Alec Ogletree
There was once a time that Alec Ogletree looked like he was on his way to becoming one of the best all-around linebackers in the NFL. During his time with the Los Angeles Rams, Ogletree produced three seasons of 100+ tackles, 10+ pass breakups, and at least one interception.
Despite his ability in coverage though — which has also been faltering — Ogletree has become somewhat of a liability in run defense. Since being traded to the New York Giants in 2018, Ogletree has gotten worse and worse at stopping the run. Even though he was a team captain for the Giants, New York released the veteran linebacker earlier this offseason.
While he’s played seven years in the NFL, Ogletree is still only 28 years old. And despite his struggles in recent seasons, the Georgia product would bring some much-needed experience to the Browns.
With Ogletree anxiously waiting in free agency, don’t be surprised if Cleveland brings him in for a workout if things don’t pan out with Smith.
