Don’t Sleep on the Browns’ Defense
As Jets quarterback Sam Darnold found out on Thursday night, the Browns’ defense is not to be taken lightly. The rookie passer threw two interceptions in the closing minutes, with cornerback Terrance Mitchell’s pick with 11 seconds remaining sealing the game for Cleveland.
Linebacker Joe Schobert had the other interception for the Browns, while rookie cornerback Denzel Ward forced and recovered a fumble that led to their second field goal in the third quarter. The takeaway was Ward’s third of the season after he recorded two interceptions against Pittsburgh in Week 1.
Speaking of takeaways, the Browns now have nine through the first three weeks of the season. They also have nine sacks, including four from second-year defensive end Myles Garrett.
Another standout defensive lineman for the Browns is 24-year-old defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi, who already has three sacks on the year.
As you can see, the Browns’ defense is led by several young and hungry players that opposing offenses will have to deal with for years to come.
