Chicago Bears: 3 Goals for WR Allen Robinson in 2018

Develop a rapport with Mitch Trubisky

Now that Mitch Trubisky is firmly entrenched as the starting quarterback, general manager Ryan Pace made it a priority to provide him with every tool necessary to aid him in his development going forward. The Bears underwent a complete overhaul of their offensive philosophy during the offseason. Gone are the days of the conservative run, run, and pass offense under former head coach John Fox and offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains. In place, the Bears brought in former Kansas City offensive coordinator Matt Nagy and his explosive West Coast style offense.

Allen Robinson and the other offseason additions Trey Burton, Taylor Gabriel, and Anthony Miller are expected to be the main cogs of the new Bears passing attack. With it being a new offense for Trubisky and new faces to throw to, developing a good rapport will be vital to the success of the offense.

So far there haven’t been many opportunities for us to see how the rapport between Robinson and Trubisky has been developing as the former is being handled cautiously as he returns from his knee injury. However, we have gotten glimpses of the two working in practice and so far the initial feedback is positive. Quarterback Mitch Trubisky spoke glowingly about his new No. 1 target. Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times describes it:

He loves football, he’s hungry to be great and he’s a very driven individual. That motivates me to get him the ball,” Trubisky said. “So I better be on top of my ‘A’ game because I know he’s bringing it every day, too.”

If Robinson can continue to work his way back from his injury and regain his No. 1 level type production from his days as a Jaguar, Mitch Trubisky and the Bears will be in an excellent position in 2018 and into the future.
