Chicago Bears: 5 Reasons They Can Win Super Bowl 53

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

3. Two-headed running back monster

Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen are electric and compliment each other very well. When it comes to dynamic running back duos, there may not be a better (healthy) one in the league right now. Atlanta’s, combination of Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman is likely the best, but Freeman has spent almost the entire season injured. So as it stands, is there a better one-two punch than Howard and Cohen?

Howard is a bruising force that excels in short-yardage situations, especially on the goal line. While Cohen is more of a scat-back that is unstoppable in open space situations coming out of the backfield.

A lot o,f their success stems from the offensive line that I already mentioned, but even if there are holes to explode through, running backs still need to make good decisions and make people miss on the second level. Howard and Cohen are both adept at doing just that.

Howard leads the team in rushing with 460 yards and five touchdowns, with 116 receiving yards to boot. Cohen only has 244 yards rushing with one touchdown, but has accumulated 417 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

It takes a talented backfield to win in the playoffs due to the nature of the games. Teams have to be able to grind out opposing defenses and kill the clock when they have a lead. With Howard and Cohen both playing very well, the Bears are a severe threat in the playoffs.
