2. Matt Nagy and Vic Fangio
Just like their two-headed monster in the backfield, the Bears have a two-headed monster on the sideline calling the plays.
Matt Nagy, in his first season as a head coach, has done an impeccable job with the Bears offense. Nagy’s system that he learned from the great Andy Reid has been great in every way. First and foremost, second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has been able to grasp its complexities, which means Nagy has done a great job working with his signal caller. Secondly, it is fresh, unlike the offenses we saw under John Fox. He mixes it up with some trickery here and there and is not afraid to take chances. The result? A high-octane, high-scoring machine.
On the other side of the ball, it should come as no surprise that Vic Fangio is doing a great job with the Bears defense. Fangio is in his 19th season as a defensive coordinator, so it’s safe to assume he knows what he is doing. Back in 2015, Fangio inherited the 30th ranked defense. Now, he has a top-five defense that is decimating the league.
Good coaching is vital to any success in the NFL. Look at what Bill Belichick has accomplished in New England; it’s not a coincidence. Nagy and Fangio are a great match and have created a team that is capable of going the distance. Nagy may be a rookie head coach, but he does not show it at all. This coaching staff is incredible, and their hard work is being represented on the field every week.
