Cowboys Have Strong Drafting Record

One of the widespread justifications for the Seattle Seahawks sending the significant compensation they did in their trade to the New York Jets is their inability to hit on first-round picks. Let’s not forget, third-rounders are quite helpful resources, too.

The Dallas Cowboys have been quite successful when it comes to making early-round draft choices, and that would have made parting with two of these selections in consecutive years challenging.

Since the 2008 NFL Draft, the Cowboys have had only two of their first-round selections not go on to earn a Pro Bowl appearance, which includes Morris Claiborne (2012) and Taco Charlton (2017).

Dallas has been successful with third-round picks lately as well with Michael Gallup, Jourdan Lewis, and Maliek Collins. There is still a need for Connor McGovern to prove himself, but the fact that he will be needed following Travis Frederick’s retirement is enough.
