With the Steelers only real threat in the ground game being James Connor, the team is in need of adding depth to the position.

Connor is a high-end running back but in the two years in which he has started, he’s never played a full season due to injuries.

Adding Devonta Freeman to the mix would give them flexibility in the running game and would help keep both guys fresh by splitting carries. With Ben Roethlisberger under center, the Steeler typically operate a pass-first offense, making it a smooth transition as Freeman has quality hands to catch passes out of the backfield.

Despite the abundance of injuries to the Steelers’ roster in 2019, they were still able to post an 8-8 record. Assuming this year, the return of Roethlisberger, Connor and Juju Smith Schuster, they should see a multiple game improvement. Adding Freeman would help justify that immensely.
