1. Take The Next Step

The Eagles are expected to contend for the NFC East title in 2020, but they are still a second tier team in the conference. Teams like the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints, and Green Bay Packers, just to name a few, are stronger outside of the NFC East.

The secondary in Philadelphia has been a problem in recent years. They have struggled with injuries and when they have been on the field, it has not been pretty. In March, the Eagles addressed the problem by landing Darius Slay in a trade with the Detroit Lions. The addition of Jadeveon Clowney would take the defense to the next level and energize the entire team in many ways.

Yes, Carson Wentz was hurt early in the wild card round against Seattle. Even if they got by the Seahawks, it is unlikely that they would have gotten by Green Bay in the divisional round and very hard to imagine a scenario where they would have bested San Francisco. Adding a player like Clowney would immediately take the Eagles to the level of Super Bowl contender.
