One of the biggest moves of the 2024 NFL Free Agency period was the Philadelphia Eagles signing running back Saquon Barkley. Not only is Barkley a supremely talented player, but he spent the first six seasons of his career playing against them in the NFC East with the New York Giants.

It is going to be painful for most Giants fans to see Barkley suiting up for the Eagles, one of their most hated rivals. Not only did Philadelphia get better by adding Barkley, but they also weakened New York in the process, signing away their most talented weapon.

While Barkley was the big acquisition for the Eagles, he wasn’t the only former Giants player that they are adding to the roster this offseason. According to NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, Philadelphia is also signing wide receiver Parris Campbell.

Campbell signed a one-year deal during free agency in 2023 with the Giants and was expected to be a major part of their wide receiver group. He was coming off the best season of his career in 2022 with the Indianapolis Colts and people were excited to see what he could do with a larger role.

Unfortunately for Campbell and the Giants, that larger role never materialized. After having the best season of his career, he had one of the worst as he was buried on New York’s depth chart at slot receiver.

Campbell played in 12 games, catching 20 passes for 104 yards with zero touchdowns. The Giants’ passing offense was anemic throughout most of the 2023 season, but Campbell was an afterthought when it came to targets.

With the Eagles, he should be in the mix for the No. 3 role behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Philadelphia’s offense is normally run-heavy, not leaving much for a third wide receiver in the way of target since Dallas Goedert also demands a good amount of looks at tight end.

But, things can’t get any worse for Campbell in 2024 than they were in 2023. He will compete with Olamide Zaccheus for the No. 3 role with Quez Watkins hitting free agency and will have a chance to rehab his value before hitting free agency again in 2025.
