Expanded Role in the Falcons’ Offense
A key factor to take into consideration when evaluating Calvin Ridley’s potential for impact in the Atlanta Falcons’ offense in 2020 is the fact that Mohamed Sanu and Austin Hooper no longer are members of the team.
The Falcons didn’t go out and add a receiver that will take away opportunities from Ridley next season. They are counting on him to raise his game and that’s precisely the type of opportunity he needs to be able to showcase his ability to reach an upper-tier.
Last season, Ridley experienced a significant boost in his standing within the Falcons’ offense. According to Connor Allen of 4for4 Fantasy Football, Ridley posted a 20% target share and posted 70-or-more yards in five of the six games he played after Sanu was traded.
Managing to have such a prominent role in the Falcons’ offense for the entirety of a season will naturally result in boosted production for Ridley. Considering the figures he’s already achieved, the results could be quite impressive.
