Year after year, the quarterback position becomes less of a priority when playing fantasy football. With leagues trending toward implementing PPR (points per reception) scoring, most quarterbacks have taken a backseat to running backs and wide receivers in the pecking order.
Ahead of the 2019 NFL season, Lamar Jackson was a quarterback taken in the later rounds of fantasy football re-draft leagues. Or in some leagues, the reigning NFL MVP surprisingly went undrafted and was available in free agency. Despite being passed on by plenty of people in fantasy drafts, the second-year quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens proceeded to combine for 4,333 total yards and 43 total touchdowns in 2019.
Besides winning the NFL’s MVP trophy, Jackson also finished the year as the highest-scoring quarterback in fantasy football. While Jackson and Patrick Mahomes are being taken in earlier rounds in 2020, there are a handful of quarterbacks worth taking a flier on in later rounds.
