During the 2020 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins acquired Matt Breida from the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a fifth-round pick. Breida is expected to join Jordan Howard in Miami’s backfield. It remains to be seen if either Howard or Breida earns the No. 1 spot on the depth chart.

Last season, with the 49ers, Breida contributed 743 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in 13 games. While he averaged 5.2 yards per touch, Breida was the 46th highest-scoring running back in fantasy football. His lack of fantasy relevancy was due to having to share touches with Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman.

Regardless of who starts for the Dolphins, Breida should see plenty of playing time due to him being a better receiver out of the backfield than Howard. With the Dolphins likely being down in a ton of games, expect to see Breida have a decent-sized role in Miami’s offense next season.
